| Why Eat Fat At Night |
Research has shown that to stop obesity, you need to pay attention not only to what you eat, but also when to eat it.
According to a recent paper published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, the later the dinner time, the greater the chance of gaining weight. This is because metabolism slows down during sleep, while blood sugar and weight gaining chemicals are relatively active.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University in the United States divided 20 healthy adults into two groups and then had dinner at 6 o'clock and 10 at the other. The amount was the same as the meal menu. Both groups were similar to work. In other words, I went to bed at 11 PM and got up at 7 AM.
The researchers regularly analyzed the participants' blood and body fat. As a result, it was confirmed that eating late at night consumes less fat and increases blood sugar. In other words, the group who ate dinner at 10 o'clock had 10% less fat burning than the group ate at 6 o'clock. Post-prandial blood sugar levels were about 18% higher.
Jonathan Jun, who led the study, said, "Even if you consume the same calories, your body will be treated differently depending on whether it is day or night." I emphasized.
"As the paper points out, eating at night changes glucose and fat metabolism," said Samantha Heller, a clinical nutritionist at the State University of New York. It is because you have to digest while sleeping.
According to him, not only those who eat late at night, but also those who snack at night are a problem. This is because many modern people push something into their mouths in the middle of the night for reasons of loneliness, boredom, stress, etc., not hunger.
Heller suggests changing the eating habits of the afternoon. When you are hungry, eat healthy snacks such as nuts and carrots. This will prevent you from bingeing in the evening. For dinner, choose a menu full of fruits and vegetables. Above all, you have to give up the habit of eating snacks at night. Drink herbal tea if your mouth is empty. Turning off the television and reading or listening to music can help.
