Why Do You Exercise |
Research has shown that exercise can prevent nearly four million premature deaths worldwide each year.
A team of researchers from the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge, UK, analyzed data from 168 countries showing the percentage of people exercising at the recommended amount.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise and 75 minutes of high intensity exercise per week.
The team estimated the number of premature deaths that could be prevented by exercise by combining exercise data with estimates of the risk of premature death in active or inactive people.
As a result, it can be seen that the exercise can reduce about 3.9 million people worldwide by 15% of annual premature deaths and the number of deaths.
According to the research team, exercise has been found in the United States to prevent over 14,200 premature deaths a year. "We have only focused on increasing health risks when we have been inactive, but now the benefits of exercise need to be emphasized," the research team said.
"This study shows how much it is to boost physical activity through exercise," said Tessa Strain, a postdoctoral researcher at the Cambridge University. Said.
“It's a good idea to do anything you can do, such as walking every day or riding a bicycle while maintaining a social distance, because corona 19 can make it difficult to exercise actively,” the research team said. "If you are doing yoga and you have trouble doing this, you can do activities such as gardening."
