Three products you should discard |
Life expectancy trends show declines in the US and the UK. This is not related to World War I or the Spanish flu, as you understand. This is not something new, since 2015 this phenomenon has been unchanged. When will it stop? What happens to our quality of life?
Firstly, chronic diseases progress. According to the World Health Organization, between 2001 and 2020, the incidence rate will increase by 57%. Earlier, the growth of chronic diseases was caused by an aging population - the idea is that the longer you live, the more time should manifest itself. But now these ideas are not so actively supported. Who or what could be the fault of this? How to avoid the development of a chronic disease?
Feed yourself
A buzzing, tense, over-fire, ambitious, career-oriented, socially networked world, which we call the present, has “presented” so many dangers that we all need help.
As a certified nutritionist, I often explain to people that a good diet is not so much about what you don’t eat, but about what you do. In today's developed world, we are fed up, but still malnourished. Bad food reigns in shops and on tables. This is largely due to the fact that we primarily care about calories and believe that by maintaining a certain amount of them, everything will be fine. And all this time we are missing the true reason why we eat: getting nutrients.
If you make an effort to eat nutritious foods - unfashionable or difficult to cook by modern standards the calories themselves will return to normal. So is your health. If you are one of those who prefer to know what you need to stop doing (before you start a new start), I will remind you anyway. Here is my list of three empty foods that you should throw away, leaving room for quality food.
1. Highly refined grains
Highly refined grains are the basis of many unhealthy foods. Avoiding them, you will avoid many harmful elements that are best eliminated.
They add little nutrients. In fact, they often lack the nutritional value that manufacturers add synthetic vitamins and minerals to. This process is called enrichment and was a necessary step in combating past nutritional deficiencies. We are often told that the addition of vitamins and minerals does not give anything, but still they are added to foods. This is at least strange.
We live in a world of plenty. So many choices! We are drowning in dietary decisions. So, why choose refined grains, such as white bread or pasta, when you can choose a more nutritious option? This is because you do not like the latter, right?
Corn, rye, buckwheat, kamut and other old-fashioned grains are the best choice made from yeast rather than modern baker's yeast. Fermentation breaks down antinutrients, making actual nutrients more easily absorbed and less likely to cause digestive stress. Use out, experiment! Another option is to completely remove cereals from your diet (in the end, there is no such thing as a grain deficit).
I don’t particularly like cereals. I think that they arose during the famine. A very long time, approximately after large mammals were destroyed. But this is a different story.
Eating sprouted grain bread (located in a health food store) or sprouting grain at home (soaking it and then letting it sprout during the day) are ways to reduce the amount of protective chemicals in plants called collectively antinutrients. Gluten free is one example.
If you feel unwell, I highly recommend you eat sprouted grain bread. People with good health can switch to this type of flour products later, but it is better not to put it off. This is the only type I eat, and, unlike other varieties, the only one that does not make me feel bad.
2. Add sugar
Sugar is added to almost everything we eat. You can't even buy peanut butter that hasn't been changed by the manufacturer, so you just can't stop eating it.
Eating sugar, often hidden in foods under one of more than 68 different names, is a great way to gain weight and get sick. This not only adds a lot of energy to your diet that you don’t burn home, transport, office, transport, sofa, bed and again from the beginning you also stimulate your hormonal system several times a day. No systems like interference. Simply put, this combination of things will create additional obesity and cause illness. Many, many diseases.
3. Vegetable oils
Extruded vegetable oils were introduced into our lives around 1910, when their processing became cheap. Make no mistake, these oils are a food technology that should never have been developed.
These oils are valuable, but they carry health risks that far outweigh any benefits. A study published in the British Medical Journal showed that replacing saturated fats with vegetable oils increased mortality from "all causes" by 62% and from cardiovascular disease by 70% compared with the control group. This study is strong enough to show a causal relationship with vegetable oils in comparison to the “associations” observed in many nutritional studies.
At the turn of the 20th century, people still consumed animal fats daily, and heart disease was rare. By 1950, heart disease was the largest cause of death in the United States. It is currently the largest killer in the world. However, in developed countries, cancer is currently the leading cause of death, partly due to an increase in prevalence along with improved emergency procedures after a heart attack that save more lives.
Unfortunately, vegetable oils influence the development of cancer. A study in mice showed double malignancy in those who received vegetable oil, compared with those who received fish oil. Another rodent study showed that a normal and healthy process of cell death is prevented by taking corn oil, and as a result colon cancer develops.
For simplicity, I have a rule of thumb: if oil comes from something that is not clearly oily, never eat it.
Canola, soy, corn oil, safflower and margarines, often hydrogenated and repeatedly heated, are not oily without modern processes. These processes have made them cheap and ubiquitous.
The main problem with these oils is that their precious, polyunsaturated omega-6 molecules are easily damaged by extensive processing. They are additionally vulnerable after bottling and react to oxygen and sunlight. This damage makes the molecules reactive and inflammatory.
Vegetable oils are a real wolf in sheep's clothing - they are sold to us as if they were doing us a favor, although in reality they strike us in the heart. This is not food. Don't eat this shit. Is this large plastic container with vegetable oil next to your stove right now? Throw it away or use it to lubricate the bike chain!
Get started today
If you combine these three things high-purity grains, sugar and vegetable oils you will get something like a donut. A donut is all smiles, explosions of taste and nice boxes, but I'm not joking: food like this will shorten your life and its quality.
Stop waiting until Monday, next month, Lent, or sometime else to accept these changes. Do it today. Stop snacking, because that's where these foods live for the most part. And if such foods have passed on to your main meals, you have serious problems.
Ask yourself what role these products play in your life. Make sure you eat foods rich in nutrients and take the time to return to the kitchen, because if you do not, the disease will find time for you.
